Sharing Our Faith

Most of us could never get a book or television contract to invite others into our life stories. But do you know that all of heaven and hell is interested in your life. A major reason is the potential it has to affect the lives of others. Just think of the eternal changes that occur when we allow God to have His way through our lives.

One of the most incredible ways this is evidenced is when we share our faith thereby giving others the opportunity to trust in Jesus as their Savior. With a decision to trust in Jesus an individual’s destination is immediately moved from hell to heaven. What a great impact your life can have! Are you using your opportunities?

Here are a few key steps to help you do just that:

1. Every morning pray that the Lord will give you opportunities to share your faith.
2. Relax and make friends. This is an overlooked aspect of sharing our faith but we must remember that Jesus was known as the friend of sinners (Mtt. 11:19).
3. Carry a few tracts with you placing them in your pocket, wallet, purse, or wherever is easily accessible for when the opportunity arises.
4. When the Holy Spirit prompts you to share, do so!
Father, help us to believe you and to allow ourselves to be used by you. Thank you for the privilege of service and may we see the fruits of our obedience, even today.

Dressing God

Are you making God look good today? The apostle Paul believed that our actions can dress up the teaching of our God to make Him look good and appealing to those around us. That is why Paul wanted us to live in such a way that we “may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect” (Titus 2:10).

So, how do we accomplish this? Again the words of Paul give us guidance. Paul in instructing his young disciple Titus on how to get God’s people to have a great effect on the community they are in tells Titus at the end of his letter to him—“And let our people also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, that they may not be unfruitful” (Titus 3:14).

Here are a few suggestions:
• Provide a meal or a need item to a single mother this week through the WOW Event.
• Take an unbelieving workmate to lunch.
• Take some time to go speak with a neighbor and offer to assist them with a need.
• Contact a person you know has a need and let him/her know that you’ll be praying for that need.
• Ask the Lord to show you ways to beautifully adorn Him as you go through your day.

INVEST (time, prayers, resources, etc.) in someone, then INVITE that person to church.

An Opportunity To Testify

As you go through your day today, be open to the opportunity to make a verbal impression on those you come into contact with. If you don’t have a tract on you when you find yourself in a situation to tell someone how to be become a Jesus follower here’s a very simple outline you can follow:

SIN—we are messed up by sin. We are sinners, separated from God, and cannot save ourselves. Romans 3:23 & 6:23

SAVIOR—Jesus is God’s only provision for salvation. John 14:6

SURRENDER—Surrender anything else that you are trusting in, and totally place in/surrender to Jesus your trust & confidence for a right standing with God. This should then begin a life of continued growth in surrendering our lives to Jesus in everything. Acts 4:12

I pray that you’ll have the opportunity to use this outline this week, or even today! May the Lord bless you.
“According to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death”  Philippians 1:20

Preach the Gospel at All Times

Now I am all about preaching the gospel, telling others about Jesus, verbally witnessing about the saving power of the gospel, and in every way making sure that others hear the gospel (the “good news”). But so often we have forgotten that there is more to giving the gospel than just speaking words. Let me tell you what I mean in this great quote from Saint Francis of Assissi:

“Preach the Gospel at all times.  Use words when necessary”

As we spoke about love yesterday in 1 John 4:7—14 please note that others can see God in us and that the testimony of God’s love on earth is perfected, fully seen, through our love for one another as Christians.

Please take some time today to show some love to a brother or sister in Christ. Then, invite someone who does not know Jesus to come and see God in our gathering Sunday.
Have you invited someone who does not have a church home to Friends Sunday this Sunday?
You still have time.
