Giving Thanks To God

Do you know why giving the Lord thanks is such an important response for us as we encounter challenges in our lives? The reason is that this act of faith puts God in control and removes us from having the final word on whether our experience is beneficial or not. Here are a few passages that communicates this truth loud and clear:

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. (James 1:2-3)

Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.  (1 Thessalonians 5:17 The Message)

In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,  so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;  (1 Peter 1:6-7).

This Sunday we will give you the opportunity to take such steps of faith by sharing your testimonies of trust, thanksgiving, and requests for prayer as we celebrate the Thanks-giving season by having an open microphone time in the morning service. So, what will you give God thanks for this Sunday? Start preparing by giving thanks today.

The memory verse for November—“Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart..” 2 Timothy 2:22
